I hesitated between 3 and 4 starts but I eventually settled on 3 just because of how long the delivery took. I ordered 2 rolls and it took about an hour to be delivered. I haven't ordered delivery from any other sushi places so I can't compare, but the delay will keep me from ordering too often. The prices are not bad for sushi, and the quantity is average. We ordered a Love Purdue roll which was my favorite and the other one was a majé special roll with shrimp. I would definitely order the Love Purdue roll again but the other was not memorable. Overall, I think the sushi was good, but I wish they had a dine-in option or faster delivery. For this reason, I will most likely visit Maru and Kokoro when I need to satisfy my sushi cravings.

Absolutely one of the best places for sushi I have had! The purdue love roll is amazing and I have to try a new in addition everytime!

The sushi here is good, but because of how small the place is, there's not much of a variety on the menu. Many of the rolls aren't too original, but they do have some that stick out. For example, the alaskan tapioca roll is smoked salmon wrapped in tapioca paper - very tasty. The store isn't somewhere you can really sit down and eat at; there are only 3 or 4 chairs at the "sushi bar" and then 2 or 3 by the window where people just sit to wait for their orders to be done. This is more of a carry-out type place. The people who work there are also very friendly. DO NOT order delivery from them; it takes forever. I'm not sure why it takes over an hour and a half to get 2 rolls delivered about 8 blocks away.

Great sushi! Inexpensive and lots of choices! I recommend either the Hoosier roll and the caterpillar roll! They also provide some vegan options as well! Mostly a take out place but it is perfect for campus life and pre-night out fill up! If it added something like bubble tea to the mix it would be incredible!

Considering the sushi options on campus, this is one of my favorites. Much better than Ah-Z and about the same quality as Maru without the in-dining service and higher prices. They have a large variety of rolls that should please anyone with raw or cooked seafood. The wait is a little longer than one may like but not terrible. The prices are also pretty good and affordable for college students. The kitchen area and decor could use a lot of work, but considering that it's a take out place these could be overlooked.

Knowing that Maje was another sort of "fast food sushi" type joint, I tried it out with some skepticism. Annnd, it did not disappoint. I think they have the words "Fast, Fresh, Fair" on their wall, and that describes them in a nutshell. They are the most reasonably priced sushi in town, and the rolls are so delicious. Their rolls aren't really traditional, so don't go in there with any expectations. It's best to go in with an open mind and be pleasantly surprised. The only drawback, is that this restaurant is truly best designed for take-out and not dine-in. But, that's fine with me - it's always fun to have a sushi picnic on campus. And they also deliver! My favorite rolls are the Red Dragon, Maje, and Honey California.

went here today. Have to agree that the sushi is REALLY good. I think its definetely better then Maru or Bea One. The prices are good and the portions are big too. I got the Red dragon roll and california honey roll. The california honey roll was different as it had honey on it over fried tofu covering but it was really good!! They have the traditional and unique rolls. I don't think we waited too long either for our rolls. The only thing is that the place is small and there really isn't seating room but will be going back for sure.

First sushi place I have visited since I moved to the area so I am not giving it a five because I don't know what else is around but depending in how good the other sushi places are in town I might come back and give it a five. Good sushi for a very good price; $23 for 3 rolls is not a bad deal. All of the rolls tasted very good and fresh. My favorite one was the orange dragon but the Maje special and the love purdue were excellent as well. I'll be coming back to try their other rolls before I adventure into another sushi place.

I really like their veggie sushi, although my experience with sushi is limited. The lack of seating is a bummer, so you can't really dwell on your food, but the food is good and filling. Very expensive if you are looking for a big meal though.

Went there on opening day. Alright on the go sushi place. Sushi chef has skills with a knife. Rice is a bit stickier than usual sushi perhaps too much water? Presentation is pretty good for an on the go place. Took about 15 minutes to make 4 rolls, but I can see this quickly being cut down to under 10 after a week or two of business. Staff very nice. Will go back to see how things have improved after a few weeks.

it seems this restaurant has been opened for a while. i passed in front of it a lot of times already. did not happen to try. just yesterday, i ordered at MAJE a 'Love Purdue roll' and a 'Crunchy roll' for delivery. it took about 25 minutes for the food to arrive at my door. prices are awesome for college students. it only cost me $ 10.65 for two rolls that filled me up. their sushi great?.. i am really impressed. the portion of rice, vegetables and fish ingredients are good. not too much rice like some other place i tried on campus. the sushi was so fresh and yummy too. i still need to try more different varieties there. i feel i am already late in discovering this little sushi place.

Sushi is delicious! Place is small but quiet. Had Alaskan Roll, MAJE Special Roll. They all taste original! Love this small Sushi store.

Oh, Maje. How I love you. You were the first place I ever tried sushi and you were the place I went back to week after week after week after week during my time at Purdue. Maje is delicious. The prices have gone up a little since I first started going there (2 years ago) but they're still completely reasonable. A California roll is $4. A lot of the rolls are customizable, so you get to pick the kind of fish you want. I also had a roll asked to be made without the cream cheese and it came out perfectly. You really can't go wrong. I highly recommend any of the Dragon Rolls. I also highly recommend calling ahead to order to avoid a wait when you get there. The space isn't very big and can get crowded with raw salmon lovers quite quickly. I definitely prefer them to Maru. I'm can't wait until the next time I'm on campus so I can get my sushi fix and relive my glory days at old Purdue! Boiler up!

I love this place! Whenever I want sushi I always come here. Great portions, great quality, and great price. A few days ago I ordered an orange dragon roll and a spicy tuna hand roll. It was GOOD. It was complimented by a generous amount of ginger and wasabi, unlike other local sushi establishments. If you do takeout, takes 10-15 minutes.

Best sushi in Lafayette/West Lafayette! Always fresh! Don't count on eating there though - the size of the restaurant is minuscule.

This is a great sushi option for students who want something better than buffet sushi but not crazy expensive sushi. Great options and pricing is not terrible. I've enjoyed the California Plus Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Golden Dragon Roll.
(4)Katie M.
I got the Love Purdue roll and its pretty great! Its a little on the big side, but that's not really a complaint. They rolled the sushi into hearts, which is cute. The price was right too!

My first time having sushi and I chose to go to Maru Sushi after reading all the good reviews and I needed a place to sit in and enjoy my dinner. But unfortunately, maru was closed. And so I was forced to get my sushi fix from this place. And I was very thankful maru was closed. We had two rolls here and both were equally delicious. One a little more than the other. I loved the love Purdue roll and the orange dragon roll was decent too. I loved sushi and I can see myself visiting this place more frequently from now on.

You know, there is nothing wrong with fast, fresh and cheap. I've tried most of their rolls and there have been no complaints. That includes the spider roll which is like a cone of sushi. I also like it how you can choose which fish you would like to get inside of the roll. Clearly this place doesn't have the atmosphere that the other sushi places around campus have. You could sit at the bar, but this is not the place you come out with friends to have a long dinner conversation. However, if you are in the area and want some quick sushi to take back to your office or class, or to eat outside on a nice day then Maje totally does the trick.

Always try to order ahead of time if you can. Since it's made fresh & to order, depending what you order, it can take a while.. I've waited up to 20 minutes before. That being said, it's typically worth the wait. Large portions, good prices, tons of different options including lots for vegetarians/vegans. Not my favorite sushi place in town but definitely great for the price.
(4)Dia D.
Yes, this is mainly a carryout sushi place with a few chairs to sit while you wait for your sushi. The Maje 101 roll with tuna that I got was good (and spicy), prepared quickly, and cost less than $5. I will return next time I want sushi to go or don't want to wait in line at Maru. They also had some vegan/vegetarian rolls.

I give this place 4 stars for living up to its slogan: Fresh. Fast. Fair. I highly recommend their salmon nigiri. For $14.95 you get 8 pieces; the sake/salmon is fresh, with a buttery texture that seem to melt in your mouth. The rice is not overly sticky and "vinegar-y." If you prefer fancy, flavorful rolls, I vouch for the orange dragon roll, red dragon roll, and the rock n roll. I have been here multiple times and not once was I ever disappointed. Although I would like to point out Maje is more of a to-go sushi place and I suggest calling ahead for pick-up especially during the busy weeknights

It is a small joint but the rolls here are spectacular! I greatly recommend the Hoosier roll, catepillar plus, and love Purdue. If you want fast, fresh and quick sushi before spending the rest of the night out downtown or around campus hit this place up! This is my new favorite spot! Only downfall is not a very big place so I usually just get it to go, but they also deliver and are open til 11. Also no desserts or appetizers so that could be a deal breaker for some.

Just so so, mostly not on time in opening the store, saying that open from noon, but still closed when it's 12.45 pm

I actually really like coming here. I have had some awesome sushi living on both coast of the US. I am not saying its comparable to those places, but being situated in the middle of corn fields this place satisfies my needs pretty well. I have been to Maru several times and it has never done it for me, their rolls are overprices and small. Honestly I dont think their sushi is that fresh either. Maje is a wonderful place to run in and run out with not a lot of waiting. They make everything fresh as you order them and also lets you pick what sorta fish you want in your roll. I would say their quality is a little above average (to my Indiana standards) and for the price you really can't beat it. The service here is also not that bad, you order from the register. You sit at the sushi bar and wait for your food. The place is simple, nothing fancy and not a hole in the wall. The food sorta speaks for itself.

Best sushi in Lafayette

Their sushi is great! I have never been disappointed with the quality of their sushi. Their price is a little bit pricier compared to other sushi restaurants but it is totally worth it. My favorite is the Maje 101 with salmon. The only reason why I couldn't give it a 5 is because several times when I called to order for a pick up, no one answered the phone (during their normal business hours). During the summer, when they were supposed to open at 11 or 12, I would wait by their door craving their sushi and they wouldn't open on time! (Even after waiting for 15 minutes). It happened a few times so I ended up getting food somewhere else. Even through multiple minor frustrations, I still get sushi from them so they must be doing something right.
